Daily Bread - Hebrews 4:1-16
Daily Bread
Hebrews 4:1-16
Hbr 4:1
¶
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Hbr 4:2
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it].
Hbr 4:3
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Hbr 4:4
For he spake in a certain place of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Hbr 4:5
And in this [place] again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Hbr 4:6
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Hbr 4:7
Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Hbr 4:8
For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Hbr 4:9
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Hbr 4:10
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his.
Hbr 4:11
¶
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hbr 4:12
For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hbr 4:13
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Hbr 4:14
¶
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession.
Hbr 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.
Hbr 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
All Glory to Jesus Christ,

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Enter into God's rest..
For me, this is the message that the Lord wants to tell us today.
Not just the physical rest, but the rest from anxiety, worry and worries..
The scripture invites us to enter into God's rest by believing in His Word. Just as the two-edged sword is effective and powerful, God's word is the same.
Just put complete trust in His Word and receive His loving mercy and blessings.
It is thought the teachings and words of our Lord to which we can seek strength and find solace. Believing in them as to follow what is expected to any of us and fearing them as well should we decide to go against His word.
God does not enforce us to believe in Him. However, His words of power are something to ponder and consider. God teaches us to be strong and know the right from wrong. This alone should be a guide that being able to make judgments in the proper way known to most of us is a sign that God has nothing but good plans for us.
Should we choose to go the opposite path or against them, that burden is for us to carry and for us to take on in its entirety with God watching us make our points to somehow learn what lies ahead of them.
We all need help. None of us be worthy of the help we need. Let us look at what God says. Because we have a great High Priest, the throne of God is a throne of grace. And the help we get at that throne is MERCY and GRACE to help in time of need. Not deserved help, but a gracious help. This is the whole point, God had planned for a High Priest, a Savior, a Redeemer, a gracious Helper from Old and New Testaments.
Yes, we need help. We don't deserve it. But we can have it. We can have it right now and forever. If we will only receive and trust in our High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, and draw near to God through him.
"Let us cling to Him and NEVER stop trusting Him."
Our life's purpose has one end and that is achieve paradise with God. A place where we can be truly happy and free from all our worries and burdens. This is God's offer and it is up to us to take it.
We cannot take this if do not put our trust and faith in Him. We cannot take this if we choose not to follow Him. We cannot take this if we do not accept Jesus, who has showed us an example of how it is to truly do God's work. We should be inspired by what Jesus has shown, He who has carried our burdens and continues to strengthen us whenever we fall.
The teaching tells us that rest is as important as the work. God has set aside a day for us to rest in body as well as in spirit which is why we go to church as it is there that we experience spiritual rest
My reflection to the reading:
In 4, 1-11 the symbol of rest is seen in deeper thought. It is good news, and because the promised land was the place of rest that God provided for his people, it was a share in His own rest, which we enjoyed after He had finished His creative work.
The reading also stresses the superiority of Jesus, who leads his followers into heavenly rest.
For the word of God brings judgement as well as salvation (eternal rest).
