Daily Bread - Genesis 1: 1 - 31

Daily Bread

Genesis 1: 1 - 31

Gen 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Gen 1:2
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Gen 1:3
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Gen 1:4
God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

Gen 1:5
God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

Gen 1:6
And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.”

Gen 1:7
So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.

Gen 1:8
God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

Gen 1:9
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so.

Gen 1:10
God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:11
Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.

Gen 1:12
The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:13
And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

Gen 1:14
And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years,

Gen 1:15
and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.

Gen 1:16
God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

Gen 1:17
God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,

Gen 1:18
to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:19
And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

Gen 1:20
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”

Gen 1:21
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:22
God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”

Gen 1:23
And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

Gen 1:24
And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.

Gen 1:25
God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Gen 1:27
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

Gen 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Gen 1:29
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

Gen 1:30
And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Gen 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

So many things God has put into our hands to have control and authority over. Just as you would do for you own child; God has always given us that and then some. His Almighty Love was and is from the beginning. Thank You Jesus for all that you have given us.

God is responsible for most of what we see, what we enjoy today. God is responsible for us coming into being. We are His creations and we are fortunate to be living in this world that he created for His children that he loves so much.

Just like in our lives, we are responsible for our fate. We drive our lives to the road to which we would like it to be directed. Overall, we encounter both failures and success. While God may not totally be responsible for such, it remains that we are given the freedom to choose on what paths we make.

We have all the necessities around us. We just have to appreciate and lower our preference of self-satisfaction we barely have the luxury of being able to adhere towards various means of self-fulfillment. It is us that have been totally making our lives into existence. We can either enjoy life or make it hard, all depending on what we want our lives to be from now until our last days.

The story of creation never fails to inspire me about how great and wonderful the Lord is.

Everything that He created was good and perfect. Including Man. We are the most blessed creatures here on earth, given the authority by the Lord to rule over things.

Thank you Lord for entrusting to us your creation.

Hallelujah! Let us praise God for putting us as steward over his glorious creations. All the animals, trees and elements are ours to use. With this comes responsibility to not over utilize what God has given or else we will just be glutton caretakers. Let us give something to the environment and in that way we honor God by taking care of his creations.

The Scripture today wants us to think about three things being taught. First is that God created human beings. The second is that God created us in his image. The third is that God created us male and female. It is possible to believe these truths and not be a Christian. But even though we can believe these truths and not be a Christian, all of them point to Christianity. They all plead for the completion that comes with the work and Christ. That's what the Scripture wants to talk about, especially in regard to—that we are created in God's image as male and female which request for completion in the truth of Christianity. No one can fully grasp what it means to be male and female in marriage until we see that marriage is meant to portray Christ and the church.

Therefore we must dwell on these truths: God created us; he created us in his image; and he created us male or female that we might be completely and totally and uniquely devoted to the Lord.

This is one of my most favored story in the bible. As a parent, this is one entry that I like sharing with children. It shows the wonders of the world, the wonders of God. It shows our origin.

We should indeed be thankful and honored, God has given life to us.

RP, what is even more beautiful and amazing is that God knew we would sin against Him and live according to the flesh but He loved us so much that He put His perfect creation into our hands. From there He sent His only Son to die on earth for the same people. From there He washed our sins and now prepares a place just for us into everlasting life in His glory. The One who Is, who Was, and Is to come, Jesus Christ.

Gen 1:16
God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

We are all aware that we always look for the guiding light to help us in our daily search for answers especially in our trying times. The day offers a better picture of where we are going while once darkness falls, our eyesight is limited towards the guidance of the moon and the stars.

The irony of these two components of the world is that we all see the truth, the things we should do but yet insist to defy them at times. Once the time comes when we realize the need, we are limited to options, most of which are restrictions since we choose to follow the path where we have lesser faith and belief.

But taken as a whole, God is still with us. We can wander out in the darkness endlessly with no guide in tow. But God chooses to provide us some semblance of light just the same. He give us all the chances there is to enjoy. We just tend to abuse and think otherwise, a sign that shows how much faith we have in Him as a whole.

GOD is such a creative and loving GOD. From the beginning not only did He create the earth and all things in it but for us and our enjoyment. He always has us in the best interest for Him and us. Just to think how perfect everything was and how unsatisfied humans can continue to be. This is a perfect example of how unpleased we make ourselves expecially with out Jesus. To know that in the beginning all this was created in perfection and due to curiosity for something that we cant have we still want and end up with misery. But how great is our GOD that even until now He still forgives and forgets but wants one thing a relationship with HIM only for all of us....WOW!!!
